Cellulite is an alteration of the skin that occurs in the vast majority of women at the beginning of their reproductive life. And while it is connected with hormonal disorders (increase or decrease in estrogen), eating habits also play a role. Enough to lead a sedentary lifestyle and unbalanced diet that the situation could worsen with the appearance of localized fat. Furthermore, it should be noted that female tissues are sensitive to hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause) and in those moments when the most advanced cellulite.

“Our skin is divided into three layers,” explains Dr. Cecilia Orlandi, owner of the clinic that bears his name. “Is the surface layer, called epidermis, the media, called the dermis, and deeper, called the hypodermis or subcutaneous tissue. In a smooth, flawless skin, adipose tissue is distributed in the deep part of the skin in the form of lobules separated by connective septa perpendicular to the skin. Through these walls are blood and lymphatic vessels, as well as nerve fibers. These lobules contain fat cells or adipocytes, as they grow, they stress the walls. Then the walls become irregular and it can be seen on the surface of the skin and cellulite. ”

“To make matters worse, as in recent years advanced the onset of childbearing age women also advanced the appearance of cellulite,” adds Dr. Patricio Figueroa, founder of World Dermatology Institute, a health center specializing in skin problems based in Santiago.

Cellulitethere are different types of cellulite: some are in plain view and others appear when one puts pressure on the skin. Dr. Patricia Apt, Las Condes Clinic dermatologist, explains:
STAGE 1: is not no standing or lying down. Only appears when you press the buttocks, forcing the muscle. The cellulite area is thicker and feels cold. This stage is reversible.
GRADE 2: go to the stand, but not to be lying. It is the type of cellulitis that has the most women. A grade 1 symptom adds tenderness in the affected area. Stretch marks and varicose veins appear. This phase can also be reversible.
GRADE 3: it looks when standing and lying. The fibers of the dermis and hypodermis suffer a degeneration of collagen and amorphous blocks are formed that trap-filled adipocyte triglycerides. The skin is cold and dry holes. There are superficial and deep varices. It is difficult to reverse the problem, but can be improved and in some cases, go back to grade 2.
GRADE 4: looks when standing and lying down with hard nodules more evident than in grade 3. The progressive compression of vessels and nerves produces a nutritional disorder of connective tissue, filling the structure and support that gives consistency and anchoring means to the other organs and tissues. The skin “quilted” looks without pressure. This phase cannot be reversed, but it is easy to attenuate.

Beside the different budget for cellulite cream and surgery, what are the other differences between them? Who should take surgery and who suits best with the non surgical method? When women try to decide how to solve their cellulite problems, these questions could be confusing.

Surgical process is not preferable if you don’t want to take the risk during surgery. The risk in using of anesthetic medication and the risk of malpractice or human error during surgery is not a secret in society. For certain reasons, the risk is considered to be acceptable compared to the expected end result of cellulite surgical treatment. Cellulite treatment is considered to be minor surgery and mostly done with local anesthetic.

Non surgical cellulite treatments include cream or substance and mechanical treatment. Cream as cellulite treatment has no immediate and instant effect such as surgery, the disadvantage is the time needed for the result. During treatment, patient is expected to be discipline to use the cream. It takes weeks and months depends on the severity of the cellulite.

The application of the cream is common to be completed by massage or other mechanical treatment, with or without tools for better result of the cream. Even though slow, this treatment is affordable and safe because it does not need a surgeon to do it. The side effect could be skin irritation or other skin problem such as uneven color of skin, but the level of risk is much lower than serious surgery risk or side effect.
